About NewLink WalesOur ObjectivesThe objectives of NewLink Wales as a charity are:
The BackgroundNewLink Wales (formerly NewLink South Wales) was established through the Local Action Teams of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan in July 1999. It became an independent voluntary organisation on 2nd April 2001 and - due to successful developments and demands for its services - expanded its area of benefit Wales-wide in January 2004. Our ActivitiesWorking in partnership, we support organisations and agencies operating frontline services to substance misusers. We recruit, train, place and support volunteers with agencies whose remit includes substance misuse. We provide training for existing workers and professionals working in agencies whose client group may include substance misusers, offering accredited and DANOS-matched courses. Following on from our Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) research work, we offer a substance-misuse information service to the BME communities, and provide support to families, raising awareness and giving information and choices to support users into treatment. We have grown and developed over what seems a short period of time, and we hope to continue to consult and work in partnership with agencies to provide the highest of standards in all our services. If you would like any further information about our work, please contact us. AcknowledgementsThe delivery of our training has been greatly assisted by support from a range of local professionals. They have added greatly to the quality and local relevance of all our training provision and we are greatly indebted to them - they know who they are! We would also like to thank Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan Local Health Boards for contributing to our core funding. City & Guilds is a trade mark of the City and Guilds of London Institute and is used under licence. LinksCardiff Community
